Alana Henkel Laufman is an oboist, English hornist, pianist, and organist. Her English horn orchestral playing has been praised as "impeccable" by Claude Gringas of LaPresse in Montreal, Quebec. She received her Master of of Music in Oboe Performance from McGill University (2014) where she studied oboe with Jacqueline Leclair and her Bachelor of Music in Education from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (2010), studying oboe with Marc Fink, where she attended with a UW-Madison Summer Music Scholarship to play oboe. She did a year of graduate work in oboe performance at Bowling Green State University (2011-2012). While her degrees focus on oboe performance, she also studied organ with Dr. John Chappell Stowe at UW-Madison and Dr. Vernon Wolcott at BGSU. 
She currently is the executive director of the Red Cedar Symphony Orchestra in Rice Lake, WI, plays oboe and English horn with the Chippewa Valley Symphony Orchestra and Eau Claire Chamber Orchestra in Eau Claire, WI, subs on oboe and English horn with the Duluth Superior Symphony Orchestra and performs recitals in Minnesota and Wisconsin. She has also performed with Mesabi Symphony Orchestra (Virginia, MN), Pronto Musica (Montreal), Erik Hove Jazz Ensemble (Montreal), Orchestre Interculturel de Montreal, the 2012 American Wind Symphony Orchestra summer tour (based in Pittsburgh, PA), Detroit Symphony Youth Orchestras, Blessed John XXIII Catholic Community (Perrysburg, OH), Four Seasons Theatre (Madison, WI), and other various venues.
Mrs. Laufman has been a church musician since 2002. She has played organ and piano (including choral accompaniment) for churches in Rice Lake, WI; Madison, WI; Perrysburgh, OH; Montreal, QC, Canada; and Duluth, MN. She is affiliated with the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS).
As a music educator, Alana has taught 5-12 band and 7-12 choir in Willow River, MN, 5-8 band in Mora, MN,  6-12 band in Madison, WI, coached the flute and oboe section for the Madison All-City Honor Band, has been graduate instructor of Oboe Methods at Bowling Green State University, been graduate assistant for the 2013 McGill University oboe reed making camp, has been guest adjudicator at several band festivals in the United States and Canada, and has continually kept a private music studio in person and online since 2004.

Alana is a graduate of Rice Lake High School, class of 2006. She is a member of the Music Teacher's National Association
